OVO JOURNAL · FURNITURE CARE

Furniture Care instructions

Watch each piece of furniture grow more beautiful over the years. Each material has its own story and needs. Use this guide to keep your OVO furniture in the best condition.

All OVO pieces are hand-finished. Minor natural variations are not defects but part of the unique character of your furniture.

Wood Veneer

OVO veneered products are carefully stained and varnished by skilled craftsmen to deliver a high standard of colour and shine.

Maintenance

Clean the surface regularly with a soft brush and lint-free cloth.

If needed, slightly moisten the cloth with a few drops of mild detergent or soap powder. Always wring out excess water completely before wiping.

Remove stains immediately with a damp cloth as soon as you notice them.

Optional add: For long-term preservation, you may apply wood-safe furniture wax 1–2 times per year (test on an inconspicuous hidden area first).

Avoid

Do not use alcohol, ammonia, thinner, or any abrasive polishing agents.

Avoid placing hot items directly on the furniture; always use heat-resistant coasters or trivets.

Avoid using solvents near the furniture, as spills may leave marks or even bleach the veneer.

Keep furniture at least 30–50cm away from air conditioners, heaters and dehumidifiers to prevent rapid humidity fluctuations that cause cracking or delamination.

Solid Wood

Wood is a natural material, and each piece has a unique colour and grain based on its source.

Maintenance

Clean regularly with a soft, dry cloth or a slightly damp cloth (fully wrung out).

Expect the wood to naturally fade, age, and change in grain over time; this patina is a desirable natural feature.

If stains appear on the surface, wipe them gently with a slightly damp cloth immediately.

Maintain indoor relative humidity between 40%–65% to minimise wood shrinkage, expansion and splitting.

Avoid

Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which causes uneven discolouration.

Avoid placing hot items directly on the surface.

Avoid harsh cleaning agents or solvents.

Do not drag solid wood furniture when moving; lift it to prevent scratches and damage to legs and base.

Leather Upholstery

OVO leather upholstery uses quality leather with a minimum thickness of 0.9mm to 1.2mm, combining durability with a comfortable feel.

Maintenance

For minor spots, use warm water with mild soap and rub lightly on the surface.

Rinse off any excess soap with clean water, then blot dry with a soft towel.

Use a regular vacuum on low suction to carefully remove dust and dirt.

If the leather appears dry or dull, gently rub it with a clean towel to restore its gloss.

Remove spilled liquid or stains with a damp cloth immediately when spotted; always blot, do not rub.

Apply pH-neutral leather conditioner 2–3 times per year to prevent drying and cracking (test on hidden area first).

Avoid

Do not use detergents or abrasive cleaning compounds.

Keep the leather furniture away from direct sunlight.

Avoid intense heat or UV rays, which may degrade the leather's quality and cause cracking.

Colour variations and shading in genuine leather are normal and unavoidable.

Keep sharp objects, pet claws and ink away from leather surfaces.

Fabric Upholstery

Most OVO furniture is made from original fabrics. Regular cleaning helps extend the material's lifespan.

Maintenance

Vacuum regularly with low suction or gently brush the fabric to remove dust and dirt.

Reverse cushions regularly to balance wear and sun fading.

Deal with spills and stains immediately by scraping off solid dirt or blotting up any spilled liquid (do not rub).

Regular professional dry cleaning is highly recommended for deep cleaning.

Avoid

Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, which accelerates colour fading.

Do not remove the cushion covers for separate cleaning or washing.

Do not apply homemade stain removers, bleach or strong spot cleaners; they may cause permanent discolouration.

Natural Stone

Natural stone such as marble and limestone has a delicate porous surface and requires regular maintenance to preserve its quality.

Maintenance

Use a soft cloth with a few drops of neutral cleaner, stone cleaner, or mild dishwashing detergent and warm water to wipe the surface.

Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth to prevent excessive water from seeping into pores.

Natural stone surfaces are pre-sealed, but resealing every 12–24 months is recommended to maintain stain resistance.

Avoid

Avoid placing hot items or using abrasive solvents on the stone, as these may etch or damage its surface.

Acidic substances (citrus juice, vinegar, wine) can permanently etch marble / limestone; wipe spills instantly.

Do not use scouring pads.

Sintered Stone

Sintered stone is produced under extreme heat and pressure, creating a highly durable, non-porous material for modern use. It resists scratches, high temperatures, UV radiation, and liquid absorption, providing lasting elegance with minimal maintenance.

Maintenance

Wipe the surface regularly with a soft, well-wrung damp cloth. For grease or oil stains, apply a small amount of mild dishwashing liquid or pH-neutral soap, then rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Although sintered stone is non-porous and highly stain-resistant, promptly wipe away dark liquids such as soy sauce, coffee, and red wine, ideally within 24 hours, to prevent residue in microscopic pores or seams.

Sintered stone is more heat-resistant than solid wood or natural marble. However, use trivets, hot pads, or placemats under hot cookware to maintain the surface finish over time.

Avoid

Do not use citric acid, white vinegar, or heavy-duty degreasers or stain removers, as acidic compounds can damage surface coatings and dull the stone’s finish.

Do not drop sharp or heavy objects onto table edges or corners to avoid chipping.

Never use cleaners containing hydrofluoric acid, as it permanently damages engineered stone minerals.

Glass / Fiberglass

Glass and fiberglass bring brilliance to your decor and deserve gentle, attentive care.

Maintenance

If dirt or grease is present, use a mild soap solution and warm water with a towel to clean it immediately.

After cleaning, dry any excess water with a sponge or lint-free cloth to prevent water stains.

Use trivets or mats under hot dishes.

Use placemats under ceramics, silver, or other items that may scratch the surface.

For fingerprints, use ammonia-free glass cleaner and wipe with microfiber cloth.

Avoid

Do not use abrasive cleaners or sharp instruments while cleaning.

Do not place hot items directly on the glass top.

Do not strike glass edges; edges are the most fragile part.

Rug / Carpet

OVO rugs and carpets are carefully woven by skilled hands. With regular attention, their beauty will last for years.

Maintenance

Vacuum regularly, especially for light-coloured carpets or rugs. Vacuum in the direction of the pile.

Comb or brush the carpets or rugs with a wide-toothed comb or plastic hairbrush to maintain their original quality.

If you find liquid stains, blot the contaminated spot immediately with a warm, wet sponge.

If dust and stain build-up is severe, we recommend professional cleaning services.

Rotate rugs every 3–6 months to ensure even wear and fading.

Avoid

Avoid prolonged dampness, which may trigger mould and mildew.

Avoid strong scrubbing, which may damage the fibres and distort pile.

Do not use bleach.

Stainless Steel / Chromed Copper

Stainless steel and chromed copper are beautiful, high-quality materials. Regular cleaning helps maintain their appearance.

Maintenance

Wipe gently with clean, soft towels and mild liquid detergent regularly.

For chromed copper, wipe with clean, soft towels.

Use only polish agents formulated for brass, chromium, silver or furniture polishing.

Always wipe in the direction of the metal grain to minimise fine scratch marks.

Avoid

Do not use any abrasive agents, steel wool or scouring pads during cleaning.

Avoid soaking in water for a long time.

Saltwater, sweat and harsh bathroom chemicals can accelerate tarnish; wipe promptly after contact.

Ceramic

Ceramic is a carefully crafted material. Its smooth surface requires attentive care.

Maintenance

Handle ceramic sculptures as little as possible.

Dust the surface with a soft duster when dust builds up.

In some cases, you can wash a ceramic sculpture, but make sure the product is suitable for water cleaning first.

When transporting or repositioning, support the base, not protruding delicate decorative parts.

Avoid

Avoid knocking or rubbing forcefully.

Avoid washing before confirming the product is suitable for water cleaning.

Do not use abrasive powders that will scratch glazed surfaces.

Bronze / Brass / Iron

Bronze is a natural mineral often used to produce beautiful sculptures and decorations. Regular maintenance is essential.

Maintenance

Wipe with clean, soft towels and a few drops of suitable preservation oil to preserve the surface and help slow oxidation.

Dust regularly to keep the surface clean.

Patina (natural darkening) on bronze and brass is an intentional, beautiful ageing feature; you may choose to preserve it or polish back to bright metal.

Avoid

Do not use any abrasive agents or metal polish unless you wish to remove the patina.

Avoid prolonged exposure to damp environments, humidity and rain.

Fingerprint oils speed up tarnish; wear cotton gloves when handling large decorative pieces.

General Furniture Guidelines

Environment: Keep all OVO furniture away from direct rain, high humidity bathrooms and unventilated outdoor areas unless the product is explicitly marked suitable for outdoor use.

Weight Load: Do not exceed the recommended load capacity for tabletops, shelves and seating. Do not stand on tables or armrests.

Moving: Always lift furniture instead of dragging it to prevent scratches on floor and furniture bases. Disassemble where possible for heavy pieces.

Spill Rule: For all materials: Blot spills immediately, do not rub. Rubbing pushes stains deeper into pores/fibres.

Testing Rule: Always test any new cleaner, conditioner or wax on an unseen hidden area and wait 10–15 minutes to check for discolouration before full application.

Warranty Note

This care guide provides recommended maintenance. Damage caused by improper use, neglect, harsh chemicals, extreme environmental conditions or accidental impact is not covered under the OVO warranty. Please retain your order documentation.
