At NeoCon Shows 2021, Nuez Lounge BIO® was awarded with a Gold & Sustainability Award as the best Sofa & Lounge. And, the Forest Club sofa was also awarded with a Sustainability Award. Both of them are the highlight products of Andreu World.
Nuez Lounge BIO®
From its three-dimensional and enveloping shell, which folds like a sheet of paper, the most sustainable lounge chair is born. Nuez Lounge BIO® completes chair, armchair, table and bench family designed by Patricia Urquiola, and maintains the warm and technological character of the Nuez collection.
Nuez Lounge BIO® is a step further in the sustainability applied to a design. It is created from a thermopolymer of natural origin, non-fossil, generated by live microorganisms that gives it biodegradable and compostable properties. In addition, it is 100% recyclable and is designed so that the materials that comprise it can be easily separated and recycled: shell, foam, fabric, wood or aluminum base.
Its carbon footprint is equivalent to wood, behaving like this quintessential natural and sustainable material.
In its high back, the technological texture of the shell stands out, the sculptural character that has defined Nuez since its origin. Its elaborate and detailed internal upholstery allows a wide range of textiles and leather. In addition, the new CIRCULAR ONE PURE ECO® textile collection made with recycled polyester (PET) using water bottles and plastic packaging has been developed for this new lounge chair, resulting in a selection of sustainable, planetfriendly colors and fabrics and 100% recyclable. This is the new collection of fabrics.
The BIO® thermopolymer is available in four colors for its shell: sand, basalt gray, terracotta brown and black. Always with an upholstered interior, a seat cushion included and accessory lumbar cushion. An aluminum central swivel base and a new ash wood central base with the language of the wood employed in the bases of the Nuez collection, enhancing the sophistiscated character of Nuez Lounge BIO® and gives it naturalness.
Intended for active waiting spaces, lobbies, collaborative areas or public and private relaxation spaces, it maintains all the personality of a unique and singular design by Patricia Urquiola.
It is designed so that the materials that comprise it can be easily separated: shell, foam, fabric, wood or aluminum base and manufactured from recyclable materials following an environmentally friendly manufacturing process. Aluminum bases are made from 100% recyclable aluminum and ash wood central base carries the FSC® certification from forests and reforested and controlled sources which meet the Chain-of-Custody, from the tree to the final product.
The Forest Club Sofa
Forest Club is a modular sofa design that uses wood to encase a comfortable and ergonomic upholstered interior. It is a collection of 1, 2, 3, 4 and more modular seats, that offers freedom of movement, freshness and expressiveness through the two tones of wood in its exterior and interior, combining walnut and oak respectively.
It is notable for the use of plywood, which gives shape to its structure and forms the seat, generating the armrests that support the position of the body when seated, and which offer a multitude of possible uses due to their generous dimensions. The two cushions of its interior form a padded surface made up of a combination of foams of different thicknesses and densities that are finished with a tone-on-tone or contrasting perimeter trim in different color options that coordinate with the wood of its oak veneer structure on the inside and walnut on the outside.
Its joints are made by means of a “clavet” which is a handcrafted, strong and original closure in solid ash wood that was used in the Middle Ages for the construction of furniture and seats.
This joint style -clavet-, has been recovered from our western tradition in the manufacture of furniture by the designer Philippe Starck, and it allows us to offer a handcrafted, resistant and original solution. These intelligent joints, which recover the essence of cabinetmaking, allow us to disassemble the entire piece at the end of its useful life, facilitating its reuse or recycling.
